Introduction
The Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness for Care is a qualification which provides a basic understanding of fire safety. Participants gaining this qualification will know that fire safety is the responsibility of everyone in the setting with recognition of the contribution they may have to prevent the starting and spreading of fires, the safe evacuation of everyone from the building and the management of everyone's safety and well being immediately after the event.Candidates

Course
The Course is delivered over a period of 3 hours … but read on … The Course can be delivered during the day, in the evening or at the weekend. The way in which the course is delivered and the materials used vary dependant on the nature of the group and their existing knowledge of fire safety. The Course can be tailored to reflect your particular setting if delivered as a ‘closed’ course – that is solely to you or your employees and volunteers. Individuals are welcome to join an ‘open’ course where participants will be drawn from a wide variety of different early years settings.Assessment
The qualification is assessed through a 15 question multiple-choice examination at the end of the course. Successful participants must achieve a score of at least 10 out of 15.Certification
All successful candidates will be issued with a Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness CertificateEntry Requirements
There are no prerequisites for this qualification. It is advised that participants have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.Progression
