Introduction

When a company employs a significant number of people then there is a requirement for them to have a suitably qualified first aider available to their workforce at all times. Such a person must have attended a HSE recognised First Aid at Work course.
Similarly a voluntary organisation which has a number of volunteers present at any one time would also be required to provide first aid cover by someone who has attended a First Aid at Work course.
The number of people holding a First Aid at Work qualification increases as the number of staff increases.
In cases where the nature of the work undertaken is considered high risk then the number of staff required to trigger the need for an apporpriately qualified first aider is reduced.
This course is approved by the Health and Safety Executive as a First Aid at Work course.

Course

The Course is delivered over four full days or equivalent. We have no problems fitting in with existing work shift patterns and are happy to teach the course early morning, late evening or overnight if required!
As with all of our first aid courses, delivery is through the use of an instructor-led training programme with video segments and hands-on practice in groups of three.
The way in which the Course is delivered is varied dependant on the nature of the group and their existing knowledge of first aid. All participants receive a visual workbook and reference manual.
Assessment

Assessment is carried out by the independent assessors at the end of the course. This takes the form of a 10 question multiple choice test and practical performance evaluation.
Successful candidates are awarded a ’successful completion card’ and certificate recognising their participation and achievement on the course. The award is valid for three years.
