Introduction
In October 2009 the Health and Safety Executive made significant changes to first aid training in the UK. One of their 'strong recommendations' is that anyone completing a first aid qualification, which is valid for 3 years, should refresh their CPR skills on an annual basis. This qualification is aimed at anyone who has completed a suitable first aid qualification within the last 3 years who wishes to refresh the CPR element of their training in line with the current recommendation from the Health and Safety Executive. Such qualifications include all those delivered over 6, 12 and 18 hours, for example HSE First Aid at Work, HSE Emergency First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid and all of our Sector Specific First Aid courses.Content

Course
The Course is delivered over a period of 3 hours … but read on … The Course can be delivered during the day, in the evening or at the weekend. We have no problems fitting in with existing work shift patterns and are happy to teach the course early morning, late evening or overnight if required! The way in which the course is delivered and the materials used vary dependant on the nature of the group and their existing knowledge of first aid and CPR specifically. The Course can be tailored to reflect your particular industry if delivered as a ‘closed’ course – that is solely to you or your employees. Individuals are welcome to join an ‘open’ course where participants will be drawn from a wide variety of different sectors.Assessment
The qualification is assessed through return demonstration and oral questioning by the tutor throughout the whole of the course.Certification
All successful candidates will be issued with a certificate recognising their completion of the course which is valid for a period of 1 year. In line with current guidance from the Health and Safety Executive it is strongly recommended that the course is completed annually.Entry Requirements
Participants wishing to complete this qualification must be aged 16 years or above and have completed a suitably recognised first aid qualification within the last 3 years.It is recommended that participants have a minimum of Level 1 or equivalent in literacy or numeracy.
Progression
At the end of the three year validity of your original qualification it is important to refresh the course by completing the full course again. This maybe the 3-day HSE First Aid at Work course, the 1-day HSE Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work course, the 2-day Paediatric First Aid course or another Sector Specific First Aid course.Accessibility
