HSE First Aid Courses

HSE Approved First Aid Courses

Introduction

Health and Safety Executive approved first aid courses are required by anyone that is providing first aid in a work based environment.

Employers are responsible for making sure that all employees receive immediate attention if they are taken ill or are injured at work. Accidents and illness can happen at any time and first aid can save lives and prevent minor injuries from becoming major ones.

The arrangements an employer needs to put in place will depend on the particular circumstances in their workplace and the outcomes of the first-aid needs assessment they will have completed.

As a minimum, the employer must have:
  • a suitably stocked first aid kit
  • an appointed person to take charge of first-aid arrangements
  • information for all employees giving details of first-aid arrangements

First-aiders

An employer might decide, based on the outcome of their first aid needs assessment, that there is a need for a first-aider in their workplace. This is someone who has been trained by an approved organisation, such as MG Training, and holds a First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.

Please browse the information about these courses on our website or Contact Us if you would like further information or would like to make a course booking.

Reporting Accidents

Under health and safety law, an employer must report and keep a record of certain injuries, incidents and cases of work-related disease.

Keeping records will help the employer to identify patterns of accidents and injuries, and will help when completing their risk assessment. The companies insurance company may also want to see the employers records if there is a work-related claim.
