Introduction
Licensing for Door Supervisors was phased in on a regional basis across England and Wales between June 2004 and April 2005. It is now illegal to work as a Door Supervisor without an SIA licence unless your company or employer has been granted Approved Contractor Status and you meet other qualifying criteria.
If you do work without a licence you will be committing a criminal offence, punishable on conviction by a fine of up to £5,000 or 6 months imprisonment or both.
To obtain a licence to be a door supervisor from the Security Industry Authority you need to …
• pass an identity check
• pass a criminal records check
• possess a recognised door supervisors qualification.
The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Door Supervisors is such a recognised qualification.
