Policy Statement

It is the policy of MG Training, the centre, to provide equal opportunities to all employees, and applicants for employment, and all trainees, and applicants for training. To ensure that they are not discriminated against on the grounds of sex, sexual orientation or marital status, age, race, colour, religious beliefs, ethnic origin or disability. The centre is totally committed to a policy of equal access, fair assessment and treatment for all staff and trainees.

Implementation

The Centre Manual is available for inspection together with all relevant documentation. Equal opportunities, its implementation and monitoring is covered in this document.

Responsibility

The Centre Coordinator has overall responsibility for Equal Opportunities including responsibility for the implementation, monitoring of the Policy and ensuring that its application is regularly communicated to all levels of staff and trainees. All employees and trainees have a responsibility to accept their personal involvement in the practical application of the Policy.

Training

The centre recognises its responsibilities to ensure that all trainees and staff understand the Equal Opportunities Policy and are aware of current legislation relating to it. All employees will be given training and encouragement to assist in the achievement of equal opportunities throughout the organisation. Initial training will be given as part of the Induction process.

Awareness

It is the policy of the centre to raise awareness of its Equal Opportunities Policy both within the company and amongst its trainees and others with whom it comes into contact. To this end this policy statement will be displayed on the companies premises and any recruitment advertising undertaken will include the wording "MG Training aims to be an equal opportunities organisation".

Recruitment

The recruitment and selection of company staff will be based upon criteria clearly definable from the Job Description and will reflect without bias the needs and requirements of the post. All stages of the selection process, including interviewing, will be carried out by members of staff who have received training in Equal Opportunities.

Monitoring

The responsibility for monitoring Equal Opportunities lies with the Centre Coordinator who will ensure that the company's procedures are adhered to and that representation by those defined in the Equal Opportunities legislation is in accordance with that of the local area.

Grievances

All complaints from staff or trainees of discrimination, abuse, victimisation or harassment will be treated seriously and investigated with all possible speed and in accordance with the company's Grievance Procedure. Any incidence of such activities amongst the company staff will be treated as misconduct.
